"Happy Gilmore 2"- A Laugh Riot Packed with Cameos
- Jul 27, 2025
Who could turn down an opportunity for a cameo in “Happy Gilmore 2”? It seems the answer is a resounding 'no one', as evidenced by the star-studded lineup at the film's premiere on Monday night.
Chock-full with notable faces, Adam Sandler playfully bragged to Variety, “We got everybody!” The talent list, fabulous enough to fill eight pages, boasted recurring stars Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald and Kevin Nealon along with new entrants like Benny Safdie and the pop sensation Bad Bunny. The film also enjoys the rich addition of surprise cameos such as Alix Earle, “Hot Ones” host Sean Evans, and renowned athletes including Travis Kelce.
Sandler spilled the beans on how Bad Bunny bagged a role in the film, all thanks to his hosting stint on "Saturday Night Live". After being impressed by Bunny’s comedic timing, Sandler confided, “I saw him and I couldn’t believe how funny he was." One chance meetup at a Laker’s game and several follow-ups from Bunny’s agent later, a role was penned for him. As Sandler put it, “When a great idea hits, you entertain it, and that led to Bunny getting the part."

The film galore also features much of the original cast of the 1996 classic. McDonald reprises his role as the notorious Shooter McGavin and Bowen once again appears as Sandler's love interest, Virginia Venit. On being asked to join the sequel, Bowen quoted to Variety, “No one says no - you’d be high to say no.” To which she humorously added, "My kids thought I’d never be in it because I’m too old…but when he called, I said, ‘Whenever you need me, however you want it.'"
"Happy Gilmore 2" is a part of Sandler’s grand deal with Netflix facilitating the making of eight films under his Happy Madison Productions. So what’s next on the sequel agenda for Sandler? When inquired about a sequel to his all-time favorite, "Billy Madison", he playfully added, "Let’s write it tonight!"
