In a candid and hearty chat staged at the Bero Padel Classic tournament (his first!), the charismatic Tom Holland gave fans a taste of what's brewing for Spider-Man. The latest movie, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," Holland hinted will lean into the “old school filmmaking” style, a fun curve from "Spider-Man: No Way Home." The reins this time have been handed over to Destin Daniel Cretton, the whiz behind "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings." Jon Watts, who held the directorial baton for Holland’s trifecta of prior "Spider-Man" stints, will be watching from the wings.

The ebullient Holland said, “I’m over the moon – bouncing-off-the-walls stoked! Playing Spider-Man is like catching up with a childhood friend. Our creativity was a bit stifled during the previous film due to COVID, shooting the entire movie on sets. But boy, are we pivoting this time! We're going full retro filmmaking mode and shooting on the bustling streets of Glasgow. The city will play backdrop to a colossal set piece we're crafting.”

Holland, beaming with excitement, added, “It’s gonna feel like reliving the ‘Homecoming’." He promised it will be a refreshing experience, "I reckon fans are going to hit the ceiling when they see what we’ve rustled up.” Earlier this year at Cinema-Con, Holland teased that the upcoming movie was going to be a “clean slate.”

He said, “After leaving you hanging off a whopping cliffhanger at the end of ‘No Way Home,' where Peter Parker bid adieu to his identity to protect his loved ones, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is wiping the slate clean. But that's as far as I spill the beans. I’ve crossed the line with spoilers before, I am zipped up tight, no worry!”

Holland’s past "Spider-Man" roles have all been big hits with the audience. “Homecoming” in 2017 snatched $880 million globally, with "Far From Home" in 2019 triumphantly grabbing $1.13 billion and "No Way Home" in 2021 turbocharging to a whopping $1.9 billion globally.

As for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day's" plot, mums the word. Jon Bernthal is lined up as the Punisher, while Sadie Sink is slated for her Marvel debut in a mystery role. Expected to return are Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, reprising their roles as MJ and Ned, respectively. Great times await on July 31, 2026, as "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is set to swing into theaters, brought by Disney and Marvel Studios.
