Welcome Back to the Jungle: Sneak Peek of 'Jumanji: Open World'
- Apr 15, 2026
Get ready Jumanji fans, as our trusty trio - Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, and Jack Black - are back in action, breaking down barriers and redefining roles in the newest installment, "Jumanji: Open World." Sony Pictures just couldn't keep this adventure under wraps, and showcased a fun-filled sneak peek on Monday at CinemaCon for all the theater owners eagerly anticipating its release.
As per usual, the lines between the fantastical gaming universe and our humdrum existence are jumbled, with our stars tackling new roles and challenges. Remember the charismatic hombre from the Dos Equis ads? Looks like Johnson's Dr. Bravestone has caught the suave Spanish bug, too! Meanwhile, Hart and Black are seemingly stuck in their character's beta versions, diligently troubleshooting their latest quirks on the fly. When jungle beasts start marauding a quaint New England town, something tells us they'll need to iron these glitches out pronto!
The beloved Jumanji series holds a strong record at Sony. And though it's been a while since we took a dive into this magical realm- close to seven years since the 2019's “Jumanji: The Next Level”, and a decade since 2017’s inaugural reboot, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” - the anticipation for this new adventure has been brewing. And yes, the legacy of the original 1995 adventure saga starring Robin Williams lives on. In a heartfelt tribute, Hart, Johnson and Black have hinted at a special Easter egg featuring the original dice from the first Jumanji film.
In a tribute to the late great Williams, Johnson tenderly acknowledged, “Robin, this one’s for you," gesturing skyward.

Returning to steer this wild ride is director Jake Kasdan, who previously masterminded the successful franchise reboots. Familiar faces Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, and lovable Danny DeVito will be reprising their roles from prior films. The "Jumanji" roller coaster is set to launch us into another imaginary expedition come Christmas, December 25, 2026.
Johnson has suggested that this might be the last Jumanji journey, at least for him. But considering the sky-high box office success of its predecessors, it seems likely Sony might have surprises up their sleeve to keep the Jumanji spirit alive. And let's not forget the deep fondness the cast has for the series-with Black labeling it as his favourite experience making a movie.
Hart, however, had a more humorous take on the ordeal, jokingly contrasting Black's sentiment by saying, “This was not a good time for me" before pausing with a grin and adding, “It was freaking work!” A fair warning that while it's all fun and games for us watching, serious work goes into crafting these memorable journeys!
