"South Park" Duo Apologizes for Movie Delay - New Details Emerge

The brains behind the wildly popular show “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have issued a formal apology for the delay of their upcoming film venture with multi-talented rapper Kendrick Lamar. "We're totally owning up to setting back the schedule of this movie," revealed the dynamic duo in a press release shared with The Ankler.

To their studio partners at pgLang and Paramount, and to all fans eagerly waiting for the new project they said, "We're sorry, guys. 'South Park' and just…life, got in our way a bit. But we're still super stoked about this film and it's on!"

Paramount, Parker, and Stone's representatives couldn't be reached for comments, but the excitement behind the scenes seems palpable.

Informally dubbed "Whitney Springs," the musical comedy movie is being made under the roof of Paramount, home of the very same "South Park." Ensuring the project has the Parker-Stone magic, the pair are creating it under their Park County production banner. And it's not just them, Kendrick Lamar, alongside Dave Free and his production outfit pgLang, are at the helm as well.

Here's a sneak peek into the plot – “Whitney Springs” tells the tale of a Black man who works as a slave role-player at a living history exhibit and discovers some shocking facts about his white girlfriend's ancestors and their connections to his own lineage. The Ankler tossed in a spicy variation, hinting that our protagonist comes face-to-face with the racist mayor of a Midwestern town, a role Parker himself is set to play. They also whispered that Kendrick has cooked up some original tracks for the film.

Parker and Stone are keeping busy with their “South Park” legacy, launching Season 29 on Sept. 16. With Seasons 27 and 28 returning after a two year break and featuring Donald Trump as a principal nemesis, they've certainly kept viewers on their toes. Proving they're not afraid of a little controversy, they even temporarily switched the title of “South Park” to “South America” in a cheeky echo of Trump's renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and Lake Ontario to Lake America.
