The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is gearing up for an exciting 2026 season, and the cherry on top? Zack Synder’s much-anticipated drama-thriller, “The Last Photograph,” is making its worldwide debut! Get ready to clear your schedule for Sunday, September 13th at 6:30 p.m., when the spotlight hits the John Bassett Theatre, TIFF’s gleaming new screening venue nestled in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
“The Last Photograph” promises an adrenaline-rush, chronicling the journey of a former DEA agent hunting revenge in the South American jungle. The star-studded cast boasts names like Stuart Martin, Fra Fee, Jackie Kay, Costanza Andrade, Carolina Henao, and Marlon Moreno. Directing and co-writing the script alongside Kurt Johnstad, Snyder brings the jungle to life through this riveting drama-thriller.
Snyder, a powerhouse in the DC cinematic universe, carved out his legendary status with the four-hour “Snyder Cut” of the 2017 superhero blockbuster “Justice League.” With credits like “Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “300,” and “Watchmen,” he's a proven master of the craft. Plus, rumor has it, an “Escape from New York” remake is brewing in collaboration with the Picture Company and StudioCanal!

TIFF 2026 isn't just a one-Snyder show, though. The festival is teeming with a variety of other treats for the cinema buffs. Cue “I Play Rocky”, a Sylvester Stallone biopic that delves into the making of his 1976 boxing drama - “Rocky”. The creator of “Green Book”, Peter Farrelly takes the director’s chair, while Anthony Ippolito slips into the iconic Rocky shoes. A special presentation includes “Misty Green,” an industry drama written, directed, and starring the comedy titan Chris Rock alongside a cast of heavyweights like Rosalind Eleazar, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace, and Anthony Anderson.
TIFF 2026 is hitting the streets of Downtown Toronto from September 10th-20th. The curtain falls with “Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend,” a sports drama documenting the early career of Canadian racing champ, Gilles Villeneuve, on September 19th. Amidst the flickering lights and popcorn, cinema history is set to be made. Hold on to your tickets tight, folks!
