Netflix Brews a Bubbly New Take on '13 Going on 30'

Pop the popcorn, folks! It's official - Netflix is dusting off the much-loved rom-com ‘13 Going on 30’ and giving it a fresh new makeover! This major news is sure to tickle fans, whether you're a “thirty, flirty and thriving” one, a Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance expert, or just a hopeless Razzles aficionado.

The beautiful and talented Jennifer Garner, who won our hearts playing Jenna Rink in the original, is passing the torch to Emily Bader and Logan Lerman while overseeing things as an executive producer. The teen-turned-woman magazine editor role garnered Garner much applause, and we are nothing but excited to see what Bader brings to the table! Steering the movie towards delightful amusement is none other than Brett Haley, fresh off a successful stint directing Netflix’s adaptation of Emily Henry’s “People We Met On Vacation.”

Haley, loud and proud about his ‘13 Going on 30’ fandom, expressed his excitement about taking on this charming story, famously calling it “one of those rare, perfect films. Funny, emotional, deeply human, with unforgettable performances from Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer.” He added that the project bore tremendous responsibility, which was eased with Garner on board as an executive producer.

Lauding Bader and Lerman's on-screen chemistry, Haley gushed, “she and the amazingly talented Logan Lerman are a magical pairing. I feel incredibly lucky to be trusted with something that means so much to so many people.”

Bader is already in Netflix's good books following the success of her film “People We Met on Vacation,” which clawed its way up Netflix’s global Top 10 list, reaching the top 10 in 92 countries! This talented actress isn't slowing down, next stepping into the cleats of Mia Hamm for Netflix’s upcoming sports drama “The 99’ers,” a tribute to the U.S. women’s soccer team's epic 1999 World Cup journey.

Keeping up the pace is Lerman with his diverse filmography that includes roles in “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” and “We Were the Lucky Ones”. He was last seen firing up Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez.

Details about the storyline are currently being kept hush-hush. Rest assured though, the talented team at RK Films, led by Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum, along with Garner and other executive producers, promise a delightful new spin while paying homage to the classic.
