"Get your popcorn ready!" That's what we're saying after cinema powerhouse A24 released the much-anticipated trailer for "The Invite". This rollercoaster of emotions is directed by none other than superstar Olivia Wilde and features a star-studded cast that includes Wilde herself, the funny man Seth Rogan, the enchanting Penélope Cruz and the ever-talented Edward Norton. Prepare to mark your calendars, folks! This gem is set to hit selected theaters on June 26.

The movie, a delicious blend of drama and comedy, is the brainchild of dynamic duo Will McCormack and Rashida Jones. The plot revolves around Joe and Angela, a married couple going through some rough patches. And what happens when they decide to host their cryptic upstairs neighbors for dinner, you ask? Well, let's just say the evening doesn't quite go as planned. Get ready to ponder whether they've sparked their love anew or set ablaze the fire that razes everything to the ground.

When "The Invite" made its debut at Sundance this past January, it created waves. We're talking tidal waves. Audiences and distribution companies alike were spellbound. The movie sparked an intense bidding war that spanned many days and included industry titans such as Focus Features, Neon, Netflix, Apple, Searchlight, and even new contender Black Bear! And to top it all off, Wilde was met with a standing ovation post-screening. Talk about making an entrance!

Edward Norton humorously shared at the Q&A session, "Seth and I both have directed films that we’ve been acting in as well. Inevitably, you say, ‘This was a terrible decision.'" He couldn't resist adding, "It’s hard for me to overstate the grace and wisdom with which Olivia gave that performance and directed us."

And if that isn't enough to whet your appetite, Variety's top film critic Owen Gleiberman has already sung its praises, declaring it a "bravura dinner-party dramedy" that "keeps you laughing and never stops surprising."

"The Invite" signifies Wilde's hat-trick as a director, having previously directed the crowd favorites “Booksmart” in 2019 and “Don’t Worry Darling” in 2023. She didn’t just stop at directing, as she also acted in the latter as the intriguing character of Bunny. "The Invite" is proudly brought to you by producers David Permut, Ben Browning, and Megan Ellison. Be sure you've got a comfy seat folks, because it clocks in at 107 minutes and has earned an R rating.
