Warm up the popcorn and get comfy because our beloved world of Westeros is gracing the silver screen for the first time. Yes, you've heard it right, folks - "Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest," a movie based on the phenomenal TV series, is set to steal the show on June 6, 2029. Heaped with the weight of our expectations is Owen Harris of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” fame, who'll be calling the shots from behind the camera, from a script penned by Beau Willimon.

If you're wondering where our beloved characters fit in, the movie is believed to return us to an epoch we've yet to explore - the time of Aegon I, the founder of the Targaryen dynasty. His tales of the conquest of Westeros hundreds of years before the original “Game of Thrones” television series are the stuff of legend. As for who will portray Aegon I – that piece of casting magic is yet to be revealed.

Aegon’s dynasty certainly doesn't lack drama - after all, it eventually birthed Daenerys Targaryen, brought to vivid life onscreen by Emilia Clarke, and many heirs, several of whom carried the significant title of Aegon. This fiery saga became the foundation for HBO’s winning spinoffs, “House of the Dragon” and “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.” Thanks to the creative genius of George R.R. Martin, we were treated to the beautiful world of “Game of Thrones,” giving us an epic eight-season roller coaster ride from 2011 to 2019, and leaving a mantelpiece adorned with dozens of Emmys.

As for Harris, besides directing duties, he will wear the hat of executive producer, something he's pretty familiar with since his involvement with HBO’s “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms." He's not new to the directors' chair either, thanks to his work on “Black Mirror,” 2019’s “Twilight Zone” remake and Alden Ehrenreich’s “Brave New World”. And Beau Willimon? He’s the brains behind Netflix’s “House of Cards” and the hit Disney+’s “Star Wars” spinoff “Andor.”

For those champing at the bit, there's a feast of Westerosi tales to tide you over. “House of the Dragon” is gearing up for a fourth season, while "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" has its sophomore season in the works. 'Til then, Knights and Khaleesis, let’s sit tight and await the arrival of "Aegon's Conquest"!
