Strap in, "Super Troopers 3" Is Heading Your Way!
- Aug 26, 2025
Whoopee! The comedy maestros of Broken Lizard, with members Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, are dusting off their state trooper uniforms and rejoining forces with Searchlight Pictures. Yes, you guessed right, a third installment of the all-time favorite “Super Troopers” franchise is definitely on its way, and it promises to be as hysterical as ever!
Chatting about the hilarious script for “Super Troopers 3,” which has already been penned down by the team. The director's baton would be handed over again to the versatile Jay Chandrasekhar, with Richard Perello gracing the set as producer.
Heartwarmingly, Chandrasekhar and the rest of the gang are not only back to tickle your funny bones but are reprising their iconic roles. Brian Cox, our trusted “Succession” actor, will bring back Captain John O'Hagan, while Marisa Coughlan returns as the lovely Ursula Hanson from the “Super Troopers” franchise. Joining the cast for the first time are big names like Nat Faxon (the talent behind “The Way Way Back”) as Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford (from “The Boys”) as Baker Buchanan, and Andrew Dismukes (known from “Saturday Night Live”) as Coy Burns. Excitingly, the principal photography will kick off soon!
Searchlight President Matthew Greenfield expressed immense enthusiasm over another entry into the ‘Super Troopers’ franchise saying, "Broken Lizard has been part of the Searchlight family for over two decades, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for another entry in the ‘Super Troopers’ saga. 'Super Troopers' has this peculiar knack of turning ludicrousness into an absolute expectation, and we can't wait to take audiences on another laughter-packed patrol with these joyful, goofy characters."
Chandrasekhar reciprocated the sentiment, enthusiastically declaring that “Broken Lizard is excited to bring back the fun factor to the theatrical comedy. America, we urge you, ‘It's the hour of the mustache!’"

Rewind to 2001, when “Super Troopers” was unveiled by Fox Searchlight, following its acquisition at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie was a hit and clinched the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival, paving the way for a sequel in 2018. Both, infused with humour and direction by Chandrasekhar and star performances by the entire troop of Broken Lizard.
Reporter to the Co-Heads of Film Production & Development, Creative Executive Apolline Berty, Vice President of Production Richard Ruiz, and Creative Executive Daniel Yu are overseeing the project for Searchlight Pictures. The same dream team behind “Super Troopers” and “Super Troopers 2,” along with projects like “Club Dread” and “Quasi.”
Rounding out our ensemble cast are Heffernan and Lemme, creators, and stars of TruTV’s beloved comedy “Tacoma FD,” Brian Cox, known for acclaimed films such as “The Ring,” and “X2: X-Men United,” and up-and-comer Andrew Dismukes of “Saturday Night Live”, who brings an Emmy nomination with him to this project.
As we eagerly await the return of the Super Troopers, let's remind ourselves - laughter is the best therapy!
