If you're in need of a good laugh sprinkled with action and a side of power struggle, you are in for a treat! The Korean comedy-action blockbuster, "Boss", has been making significant waves in the global film market. This crowd-pleaser has racked up 2.3 million admissions in its native Korea alone and climbed its way up to the title of the fifth highest-grossing Korean flick of 2025. Talk about bossing the box office, right?

With its laugh-a-minute plot revolving around a comically chaotic power shift within a gangster organization, where two men play hot potato with leadership, and another over-zealous contender eagerly yearns for the unwanted top spot, “Boss” has caught the fancy of distributors across Asia and even outside the continent.

The film's journey started getting international when distributors such as Abnormal Studios in Cambodia, Star Entertainment in the Indian subcontinent, and Clover Films in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore grabbed the rights to screen the film. Japan’s KDDI, Mongolia’s Izagur Media, and Vietnam’s Khang Media hopped on the bandwagon too.

In North America, it was 213 Pictures & Media who whistled the movie tune, securing the rights to bring a delightful slice of Korean cinema to their territory. Taiwan was brought into the global "Boss" fan club by Cai Chang International while Encore Inflight snagged up inflight rights.

The impressive coup of international rights followed the film’s glamorous premiere in the Korean Cinema Today Special Premiere section at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival. This gave a huge thrust to "Boss" to its international reputation.

The cast of the film is as varied as it is packed with talent. From Jo Woo-jin, known for brilliant performances in “Harbin,” “Hard Hit”, to Jung Kyung-ho of the “Men of Plastic,” “Hospital Playlist” fame, every actor brings a unique flavor to this riotous journey. Park Ji-hwan from the “Roundup” franchise, Lee Kyoo-hyung of “Prison Playbook”, and Lee Sung-min from “No Other Choice,” “Handsome Guys” are also star attractions of the ensemble.

Even though it took its bow theatrically in North America on Oct. 17 and Mongolia on Oct. 24, "Boss" hasn't given its final curtain call yet. It is queued up to entertain audiences in Indonesia starting Nov. 5 and Taiwan from Nov. 21.

Director Ra Hee-chan, the brains behind this mirthful mob film, is leaving no stone unturned to promote "Boss". He recently got up close and personal with movie-goers at the Hawaii International Film Festival to elevate the film’s global standing.

The comedic roller-coaster has been crafted by the skilled team at Hive Media Corp, the brilliant minds behind “12.12: The Day,” “Handsome Guys” and “Harbin”. The film is proudly presented by the creators at Hive Media Corp and Mindmark. Given its already sparkling success on Korean and international turf, "Boss" seems all set to continue ruling the roost!
