If you ever need proof that dreams do come true, Anne Hathaway is the poster child! The Oscar-winning actress received another feather in her cap as she was officially anointed a Disney Legend at D23, the super-fan congregation fueled by the House of Mouse's magic.

Hathaway, humble as always, took the stage saying, “I am here today because I’m one of the most insanely lucky people in the world," after David Frankel, her director from “Devil Wears Prada”, and fashion maven and Vogue editor Anna Wintour introduced her. The applause was deafening, and rightly so.

Righteous in her gratitude to her beginnings, she said, "How lucky am I that I was born into a family where acting, storytelling, and imagination were valued and celebrated." She dedicated her honor to her parents, her husband Adam Shulman, who apparently "makes her foot pop", and their two delightful sons Jonathan and Jack.

Speaking of milestones, Hathaway's latest honor comes exactly 25 years post her breakthrough performance as Mia Thermopolis in "The Princess Diaries". The Disney-starlet-turned-Hollywood-heroine amped up her acting credentials with other spectacular roles like Andy Sachs in “The Devil Wears Prada” and its sequel, which helped haul the franchise earnings past the $1 billion mark.

Channeling her gratitude, Anne Hathaway paid tribute to the late Garry Marshall, Debra Martin Chase, and undoubtedly, the late Whitney Houston for their staunch support during her early days in Tinseltown.

Reflecting on her first big foray into cinema, Hathaway said, "How lucky am I that my first studio picture ever starred perhaps the greatest Disney Legend of all time - the incomparable Julie Andrews." Gratitude poured from Hathaway as she hailed the impact her early experiences in ensemble casts - shares with the likes of Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt - had on her career.

David Frankel, Hathaway's “Prada” director, hailed her perseverance, hinting at an earlier studio's choice for another actress in 'Devil Wears Prada'. Frankel declared, "Thank God for Meryl Streep. She saw Annie’s performance in 'Brokeback Mountain' and said, ‘Yeah, this girl.’"

Sprinkling some fashion-fairy glamour, Anna Wintour lauded Anne Hathaway, admiring her kindness and tireless dedication, adding, “Nobody deserves the Disney Legends Award more than you.”

Joining the Hollywood darling in the Disney Legends class of 2026 were Dwayne Johnson, former Disney CEO Bob Iger, the Jonas Brothers, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alan Tudyk, Chris Berman, Jerry Bruckheimer, Kim Irvine, Eric Goldberg, and Susan Egan.

Hathaway also made waves last weekend with a surprise appearance at the Disney Entertainment Showcase, providing an update on the highly-anticipated return of “Princess Diaries 3”.

Reflecting on the whirl, Hathaway said, “I very often feel like I’m having the luckiest life because my first film was embraced so completely by an audience that took it so deep into their hearts." She added how much joy she continues to derive from movies and seeing other people love them as deeply as she does.

On the professional front, 2026 has certainly been Hathaway's year, with five films and a box office total exceeding $2 billion. Her final movie of the year, “Verity,” a chilling adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, is set to debut on October 2.

"It’s overwhelming. It’s a joy, and it’s incredible," she gushed about her mega-successful year, while acknowledging the rarity of her versatile roles. So here's raising a toast to Anne Hathaway, a shining Disney legend!
