Lights, camera, action! There might be a pinch of déjà vu sprinkling over the magic for Chris Columbus as he catches wind of the HBO "Harry Potter" series reboot. "So, I'm seeing these photographs… and [Nick Frost] is wearing the exact same costume we designed for Hagrid," the director of the original 2001's "The Sorcerer’s Stone" and 2002's "The Chamber of Secrets" shared on the "The Rest Is Entertainment" podcast.

Cue the dramatic gasps! Columbus was also the one to cast Robbie Coltrane as our beloved Hogwarts groundskeeper, Hagrid. "I mean, part of me was like: What's the point?” Columbus queried with amusement during the podcast, “I imagined the costumes and such would take its own twist, but it seems to be more of an encore."

Despite the rehash, Columbus sees the silver lining, calling it flattering that the reboot has chosen to mirror the very same Hagrid costume he penciled. "In a sense, it's electrifying, adding a dash of anticipation to see what they do with it," Columbus quipped, equating the experience to déjà vu.

Previously, in a conversation with Variety, Columbus had courteously declined dabbling in the Valley of Hogwarts once more, saying, "I’ve done it, you saw my version… There’s nothing more I'd care to add to the world of Potter." True to his spirit, the director stood by this during the latest podcast interview. He waved off any undertone of envy, affirming his readiness to move on from his remarkable initial work.

No hard feelings ruffle Columbus's feathers against HBO for the Potter reboot. In fact, he recognizes the ample screen-time the reboot can offer for adapting each book-something that couldn’t be done during his time. Like a trip down the memory lane, he noted one such example-the character Peeves from the first book, who didn't earn a curtain call in the film due to time constraints.

"So for me, [the show] is an opportunity to bring all those scenes to life," Columbus told Variety, shimmering with nostalgia.

Meanwhile, Nick Frost is laying down his own magical touch in the reboot. Without trying to precisely mirror Coltrane's Hagrid, Frost aims to express the lovable, lost, violent, funny, and warm child that he felt Hagrid embodied in the books. With the luxury of a book adapted per season, Frost is looking forward to indulging Potterheads with an in-depth dose of Hagrid!

Exciting times for wizards and muggles alike! The HBO production is now underway and poised to hit the screens in 2027. So, stock up on your butterbeers and prepare for a magical journey!
