Apple TV+ takes you behind the lens with Martin Scorsese. Get ready to mark your calendars for October 17, as the streaming platform is set to debut its striking new documentary series, "Mr. Scorsese." Diving headfirst into the finest archives of this legendary filmmaker's life, the five-part series is deftly crafted by esteemed director Rebecca Miller, known for her compelling storytelling in films like “She Came to Me,” and “Personal Velocity”.

“Mr. Scorsese” will unravel Scorsese's life, vocation, and creative brilliance like never before. This compelling series is constructed from deeply personal conversations with Scorsese himself, with unmatched depth and intimacy. And who better to paint a comprehensive image of him than those who've known and worked alongside him? Be prepared to peer into his life through the eyes of friends, family, and creative co-conspirators such as Hollywood A-listers Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Jay Cocks and Rodrigo Prieto. Moreover, the series also features Scorsese's wife Helen Morris, his children, and his childhood friends.

"Mr. Scorsese" acts as a timeline, tracing his journey from his first experiments with student films at New York University to his present-day achievements. It dives into the themes that have intrigued Scorsese throughout his career -- the eternal debate about good and evil in human nature.

Rebecca Miller couldn't help but express her excitement about the project. “This project is a filmmaker’s dream, to have had such access to legends of the industry, from Marty himself to his prolific collaborators, close friends, and family members,” said Miller. “I was honored he trusted me to create this documentary. I believe it will resonate with everyone from dedicated Scorsese fans to anyone who has wrestled with failure and chased their dreams. Can't wait to share a sneak peek of ‘Mr. Scorsese’ which includes the true version of a legendary story about ‘Taxi Driver,’ and how, through Marty’s relentless commitment and dedication to his art, the film retained its integrity and rose to become one of the most culturally significant films of all time.”

Once dreamed up by executive producers Rebecca Miller and Damon Cardasis of Round Films, and Cindy Tolan, Miller’s frequent collaborator, “Mr. Scorsese” is finally ready for viewing. This triumphant triad, along with Rick Yorn, Christopher Donnelly, and Julie Yorn, has delivered the project from conception through to fruition. Robert Fernandez and Patrick Walmsley lend their talents as co-executive producers. This series is presented courtesy of Expanded Media and Round Films, in association with LBI Entertainment and Moxie Pictures.

In a gripping first-look clip, Scorsese confides in his filmmaker friends, including Steven Spielberg, on the battle over the director’s cut of "Taxi Driver," a film that almost didn't see the light of day. The anecdote underscores the lengths the filmmaker was willing to travel to preserve his hallowed vision. Take a look and let this toe-curling tale whet your appetite for the full series. It promises to be a captivating, insightful celebration of a true cinema legend.
