Cutting Loose in Hollywood: Minions & Monsters
- Feb 9, 2026
Get ready for another laugh-a-minute joyride as the Minions crash through the 1920’s Hollywood in their latest adventure, this time ditching their role as henchmen for a stab at screenwriting. “Minions & Monsters” is set to be a monster movie like no other with the Minions diving headfirst into a cinematic universe of monsters as charming as they are.
The Super Bowl saw the release of the first trailer for “Minions 3,” also known as “Minions & Monsters.” Thanks to the genius of Universal Pictures and Illumination, it marks the seventh chapter in a franchise that has won our hearts over the years. This gag-filled epic is a sequel to the 2022's "Minions: The Rise of Gru."
Let's give a warm welcome to our favourite yellow lunatics! Instead of playing second fiddle to Gru, the Minions embark on a journey to cast some menacing monsters in their film. Much hilarity ensues as they recruit a friendly green beast, divvy it up with sea monsters and a pink bunny, and wreak havoc with a mummy, snatching his bandages right off his bones.
In the production booth, we have the dynamic duo of Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination, and Bill Ryan of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" fame. The director's chair is claimed by none other than Academy Award nominee Pierre Coffin, who has lent his creative genius to the first three “Despicable Me” films and the OG “Minions” movie. He’s also the voice behind the Minions, painting the franchise with his charisma since 2010.

The winning formula of the “Minions” franchise is these lovable pint-sized rascals helter-skeltering their way through life, creating chaos in their quest for a villainous boss to serve. And, of course, who can forget their eventual unification with one of the most adored baddie bosses, Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), in the first “Minions” movie.
“Minions & Monsters” is expected to set cash registers ringing. We've seen the franchise pull the rabbit out of the hat again and again with “Despicable Me 4” raking in $230 million worldwide on just its opening weekend! 15 years since the premiere of “Despicable Me,” the franchise has grossed over a whopping $5 billion at the box office worldwide with movies like “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” “Despicable Me 3” and “Despicable Me 2” as top contenders.
So mark your calendars folks, for the yellow guys are set to crash into theaters on July 1. Until then, get a sneak peek of their madcap journey in the released trailer today!
