Take a moment and stash your Thin Mints; because we've got a sweet story to share! Roadside Attractions, renowned for backing a broad spectrum of documentaries, has now set its sight on a delightful project about the quintessential American tradition. Say hello to "Cookie Queens" – a heartwarming documentary, backed by none other than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, that stirs up fond memories of Girl Scout Cookie season.

Directed by Alysa Nahmias, this charming film brilliantly captures the six-week hive of activity, fondly known as the Girl Scout Cookie season. Think along the lines of the mad rush, the palpable determination, and the strategic cookie-bartering negotiations that make Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs drop from your palms straight into your hearts. It’s a wonderland of Girl Scouts armed with their cookie-loaded wagons, sweet smiles, and a dream to out-sell their last year's figures.

Meghan Markle, sharing her personal connection to the premise, said, "Being a Girl Scout alumna with my mom as my troop leader, this film touches a special chord with me. It’s irresistible, the way Alysa has explored the fascinating contrast of tradition and modernity associated with the Girl Scout Cookie season, and all in a tone that is so humanizing yet edgy.”

Roadside Attractions, with their impressive repertoire including films like "Super Size Me" to "The September Issue" and "Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go For It," seems like the ideal home for this nostalgic yet modern story. Fresh off the Sundance Film Festival, "Cookie Queens" is all set to cast its charm at SXSW and then buzz its way into the movie theaters over the summer.

Eric d’Arbeloff and Howard Cohen, co-presidents of Roadside, shared their thoughts on the acquisition, "‘Cookie Queens presents an endearing perspective on an American tradition familiar to millions but seldom truly pondered over. Alysa's hilarious yet profoundly touching portrayal of these young girls and their families won the hearts of Sundance audiences and haunted us long after. We're thrilled to bring this experience to a wider audience soon.”

But of course, the "Cookie Queens" wasn't whipped up by Nahmias alone – Prince Harry and Meghan were the executive producers, and the documentary was baked into perfection by a super team – Michael Dweck & Gregory Kershaw of Beautiful Stories, Nahmias for AJNA Films, and Jennifer Sims.

Nahmias summed up the essence of this delicious story, "Girl Scout Cookies aren't just a beloved tradition - they signify a thriving $800-million-a-year business driven by talented and hard-working girls. It offered a fascinating opportunity to narrate a tale about girlhood; the ambition, resilience, humor, and vulnerability that these girls exhibit as they grow in a world influenced by the pull of community and capitalism."
