Everyone's favorite quirky family, the Stones, are planning a reunion. Thomas Bezucha, the gifted writer and director who gifted us the 2005 heartwarming dramedy "The Family Stone", is spinning his creative wheels for a sequel to the holiday hit. "The news really rocked me," Bezucha admitted to CNN, referring to the passing of legendary Diane Keaton last October at 79. Keaton played Sybil, the Stone family's loving matriarch, who met a poignant end after a terminal illness in the original epic.

"This loss of Sybil has haunted my thoughts while I've been penning the sequel for a while now. So, the loss of Keaton felt like an additional blow," Bezucha candidly expressed during his interview with CNN. "It's been mentally taxing, dwelling in that house without her."

Missing Keaton has fueled Bezucha's resolve to pay tribute to the late actress in the sequel. He's committed to doing a stellar job for the rest of the ensemble cast of "The Family Stone". The classic movie, which showcases an encounter between social opposites when Sybil’s son introduces his uptight girlfriend to their eccentric, bohemian family over the holiday season, features a star-studded cast. Headlining the original were showbiz bigwigs like Sarah Jessica Parker, Dermot Mulroney, Luke Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Claire Danes, and Craig T. Nelson.

Fans may wonder which faces from the old crew will grace the screen once again. Bezucha mentioned that although no one has officially joined the project and Disney, that took over the film's original distributor 20th Century Fox in 2019, hasn’t given a go-ahead yet, he firmly wants to revive the movie magic with the original actors. He playfully referred to his goal, saying, "A Brady family reunion without the original Jan just wouldn’t cut it."
