South Korean political drama "Tempest," soon to grace our screen on Hulu, boasts an awe-inspiring cast and an international storyline that keeps you at the edge of your seat. Following the footsteps of "Squid Game", K-Dramas are hotter than a bowl of fiery kimchi-enticing, aromatic and a bit complex.

In "Tempest", we follow the story of the intrepid Seo Munju, a whip-smart former diplomat, who's on a mission to expose the reality behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. As her journey unfolds, she makes shocking reveals about the candidate's alleged ties to North Korea, setting off a chain reaction of deceit, secret dealings, and dare we say - mind-boggling cover-ups.

Thankfully, Munju isn't alone on this action-packed adventure. Enter Paik Sanho, a mercenary with a murky past who takes up the task of protecting Munju while wrapped up in his own mysterious agenda. As the plot thickens, a surprising twist connects this thrilling tale of intrigue all the way back to the White House.

With its espionage narrative, it sounds like more like a political version of "The Bodyguard" than a traditional K-drama - but, don't worry. "Tempest" gears up a level of drama that keeps you hooked beyond the adrenaline-inducing action sequences.

The story centers around the rising political tensions between the US and North Korea, with South Korea precariously sandwiched in the middle. We see the South Korean president and his main contender emerge as key players in this high-stakes power struggle.

Seo Munju, our badass protagonist, faces her own trials and tribulations as she navigates this political minefield, balancing her roles as a former UN Ambassador and the candidate's spouse. The writers masterfully craft scenes hinting at the grandeur of repercussions and human drama that ensue.

The show doesn't skip on the personal side of things too, with a smoldering bodyguard story thrown in. Munju's protector, Mr. Paik San-ho, proves to be more than his gruff exterior suggests. He's got a soft spot that might just lead to some steamy romance - yet, there's more at stake than just matters of the heart here.

"Tempest", dropping with a three-episode slam dunk on September 10, comes from a proven stable of talent. The genius behind camera includes Kim Hee-won of the "Queen of Tears" fame and Heo Myeong-haeng – the guru of Korean martial arts cinema. With words from Chung Seo-kyung, the writer behind "Decision to Leave" and "Little Women," this show is bound to be a rollercoaster of emotions.

With themes of faith and dysfunctional family affairs brewing, the series deals with the bigger question of personal sacrifice for duty. Measures the cost of morality in a world dominated by power plays. As the shadowy political intrigue untangles, viewers will be left guessing – being spoon-fed clues of a bigger conspiracy at play.

Our main leads, Munju and Sanho, have a tantalizing on-screen chemistry making their evolving tension absolutely riveting to watch. With the breathtaking Jun Ji-hyun aka Gianna Jun in the lead female role and action superstar Gang Dong-won playing her protector, the dramatic intensity is to die for.

With layers of narratives, complex characters and carefully choreographed action sequences, "Tempest" is a standout in the spy-thriller genre. If you enjoy deciphering puzzles, this show is a must-watch for you.

As we find ourselves intrigued three episodes in, we get a hit of the show's deeper sentiment - it's the eternal battle between the horrors of inevitable conflict and the dream of eventual peace. So buckle up! The thrilling storm of "Tempest" is about to hit our screens - and it is a tempest we won't mind getting caught in.
