Tee Time with 'The Hawk': Get Ready for Will Ferrell's Netflix Golf Comedy!
- Mar 13, 2026
Netflix recently teased its comedy golf fans with a peek at its upcoming summer show, "The Hawk", starring Will Ferrell as retired golfer Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins. In the first glimpse of the series, we see Ferrell decked out in a zingy pink golf shirt and a 'Hawk' embellished white visor, crowning his curly, platinum-blonde locks.
The teaser sets up Hawkins’ character with an elusive voiceover, "This summer, a legend returns. An icon. A champion. An American hero." As the narration continues, "His name: Lonnie ‘The Hawk’ Hawkins", cheeky Hawkins jumps in, affirming, “That’s me. I’m him. That’s who they're talking about. If you were wondering.”
Netflix also released two more teasers for die-hard Ferrell fans. In one, the off-camera voice notes that Hawkins is "forever remembered for the biggest choke in golf history"; a visibly ticked off Hawkins gives a hushing gesture and retorts, “Don’t bring that up.” Another teaser shows Hawkins mimicking NBA star LeBron James's pre-game chalk toss ritual, only to choke on it, admitting, “That was not a good idea”.

The show's synopsis introduces us to Hawkins, a one-time golfing superstar, now struggling to keep his career on the fairway. "Lonnie Hawkins, 2004’s No. 1 golfer, struggles on the back nine of his career to recapture his magic. His body says retire, but his heart says he’s not done yet. His ex-wife and his son Lance, golf’s new golden boy, know he’s through. But with one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history."
To spice things up, the cast boasts some comic powerhouses, including Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby. Behind the camera, executive producers include Ferrell himself, Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor for Gloria Sanchez Productions; Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue for T-Street; along with Chris Henchy, Harper Steele, David Gordon Green, and Andrew Guest. So, get ready for a summer filled with laughter, golf, and pink shirts!
