- Oct 2, 2026
R.L. Stine, the maestro of our most memorable childhood chills, is back at it again, bringing his particular brand of spooky storytelling straight to Tubi in 2027 with “Afraid of Clowns” - a thrilling new addition to your horror movie queue! The news comes straight from Variety’s trusted sources and we're quaking in our boots already!
This eerie clown-driven nightmare stars a lineup of vibrant talents including Frankie Honey, Ava Ferrer, Azriel Dalman, Joe Moore, and also, hold on to your wigs, the charismatic champion of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" Season 8, the one and only Jimbo!
The official logline for this carnival of horrors unveils an ominous plot. When Ringmaster Rollo and his enigmatic clown troupe blow into Redhaven, our heroine, Frankie, uncovers potential links between the shadowy visitors and a chilling cold case – a child's disappearance years prior. Believing that her younger brother is now on their disturbing radar, Frankie races against time, rallying her friends to aid in unmasking the truth before her brother evaporates into the sinister clown giggle, never to be seen again.
Tubi's collaboration with Stine has previously gifted fans with cinematic chills like “R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead,” a hit streaming across screens since October 2025, followed by its spine-chilling sibling “Pumpkinhead 2,” set to uncage its ghoulish tale on October 9.

In the words of Adam Lewinson, the leading authority of content at Tubi, "R.L. Stine has been the first taste of fear for legions of fans - and the beginning of a lifelong love of horror." Undeniably, Tubi's repertoire of R.L. Stine movies persistently stokes the fires of fear in longtime fans, simultaneously making newcomers shiver with delightful dread.
R.L. Stine playfully chimed in, stating, “Clowns have been scaring kids long before I ever got to them - I just gave them a reason to be afraid of the ones in Redhaven.”
Pulling the strings behind this creepy marionette show is Jem Garrard, the mind behind the “Pumpkinhead” movies, serving as writer and director. The production squad includes such luminaries as James Mattagne, Joan Waricha, Harvey Kahn, Yvonne Bernard, Dan Bernard, Garrard, Allen Lewis, and Rama Diallo, with Front Street Pictures filling the producer's shoes.
So, if creaking doors, sudden cold drafts, and monstrous clowns are your calling, brace yourselves, gentle souls - “Afraid of Clowns” is but a heartbeat away!
