Get ready, folks, for a patriotic cinematic journey. Hollywood A-listers, fashion moguls, and media whiz kids are coming together under the direction of designer Alexis Bittar and Oscar-winning producer Bruce Cohen in an engaging short film, "Reclaim the Flag".

Ever wonder what Lena Waithe, Brandon Flynn and George Takei think about the good ol' Stars and Stripes? This vibrant, 30-minute film, set to debut on July 17, intends to show just that. But there's more to it than celebrity opinions on our national banner. By exploring perceptions of the flag, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community, the film attempts to breathe new life into the American flag as a powerful emblem of unity.

The recently released trailer kicks things off with a simple, quite intriguing question, "What does the American flag symbolize to you?" From here, you're catapulted into a variety of personal responses that strike at the heart of what it means to be American.

Lena Waithe, the trailer reveals, muses, “Depending on how the United States feels about you, will depend on how you feel about the flag.” Isn't it amazing how in an almost poetic way, a flag's interpretation can uniquely mirror one's lived experience in a nation?

Then there's songwriter and producer Justin Tranter, who evokes a heartwarming sentiment for America, saying, “She’s messy, she’s scary, she’s beautiful.” Brandon Flynn, on a more somber note, laments “The erasure of a lot of queer progress [is] happening right before our eyes.”

Throughout the film, Bittar and Cohen bring out a masterfully-crafted chorus of reflections and hopes, painting the American flag as more than just an emblem-it's an invitation, a dialogue, and, above all, a rallying point for unity.

“Over the past decade, the American flag has increasingly become a symbol of division. I wanted to make a documentary about reclaiming it for all Americans - by bringing together 50 leaders from the LGBTQ+ community to share their reflections and hopes,” Bittar says about his vision for the film.

For those of you itching to watch, mark the date! "Reclaim the Flag" is set to premier on its YouTube channel on July 17 at 12 p.m. ET. Be ready to engage with your flag in a whole new light!
