Psychic visions and school secrets: The Addams Clan re-imagined in Netflix's 'Wednesday'
- Aug 11, 2025
Picking up where we left off, our girl Wednesday Addams, played captivatingly by Jenna Ortega, is back to school at Nevermore Academy, and it's safe to say, spooky seasons aren't just for autumn anymore. The summer break, filled with psychic training burnishes and crime-solving chess with homicidal folks, took a toll but left her ready for the school term. But alas! Surprise, surprise, unexpected twists are just around the corner, and our gloomy teen has her plate full again. Through intriguing narratives and stirring uncoverings, we learn more about the Addams family history, and why Wednesday and her queen of darkness mother, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), have such a rift.
Unceasing black tears during visions are causing our young mystic some worry. She pledges Thing (Victor Dorobantu) into secrecy, protecting the secret from Morticia's increasing meddling. Thanks to the break from school, though, she has a chance to work on her crafts and writing, free from her mother's watchful eyes.
However, back at Nevermore, things are not as peaceful as they once were, especially when little brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) – with his budding electric abilities that are nowhere near Uncle Fester's (Fred Armisen) level – also enrolls. Let's also add the fact that Wednesday's been in the spotlight since her daring victory over the Hyde personality of Tyler (Hunter Doohan), controlled by the sinister Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci). This unexpected fame, combined with a creepy stalker and a horrifying vision about her roommate Enid (Emma Myers), doesn't fit with our heroine's misanthropic vibes. Add in self-serving principal Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi) recruiting Morticia to fundraise for a gala, and our gloomy diva realizes Nevermore isn't the same institution under the stewardship of the departed Principal Weems (Gwendoline Christie).
Season 2 of 'Wednesday' stays true to its roots, delivering the same eerie vibes that made us fall in love in the first place. From a race against time to prevent a scary vision from coming true, to discovering long-buried Addams family secrets, Wednesday has her fair share of adventures. However, these revelations cause tensions to flare between Wednesday and Enid and further strain her rocky relationship with her mom.

Despite being branded as a Netflix version of the Charles Addams classic, with a whiff of a Hogwarts-essence, 'Wednesday' continues to wow audiences with its intricate design, fascinating darkness, and impressive character portrayals, with Ortega leading the pack. The series only promises to get more intriguing and in-depth, dealing with themes that resonate with most of us: the mother-daughter dynamics during the teen years, feeling like an outcast, and the complexities of friendships.
One gripe for this season though? Slicing it in half seems unnecessary. Despite the revelations, most fans agree that they could've binged through four more hours with our stoic heroine, rather than wait a month for Netflix to release the second half of Season 2.
To conclude, 'Wednesday' Season 2 remains an entertaining Burton-esque spectacle, layered enigmas making it downright enticing. Further exploration of the Addams family, led by the charismatic Ortega, makes it heartily binge-worthy. So, you can now witness the fun of Seasons 2, Part 1, on Netflix.
