In the fascinating world of film critique, Jamie Lee Curtis has shown she’s got some chops as a film defender as well. The Hollywood actress pulled no punches when she took on critics of her latest flick, "Freakier Friday," the much-anticipated sequel to her 2003 hit comedy "Freaky Friday."

Engaging in an Instagram confabulation recently, Curtis shared her two cents after Time shared a snippet from Stephanie Zacharek’s review of the movie. Zacharek penned, “No one, as far as we know, actually asked Disney for a sequel to 2003’s buoyant, surprisingly unsyrupy generation-gap comedy ‘Freaky Friday.'"

True to her colorful self, Curtis shot back on the post, "SEEMS a TAD HARSH. SOME people LOVE it. Me being one." How's that for some unrestrained Curtis sass?

While Zacharek might have been skeptical, the numbers seem to side with Curtis. The critic found herself on the far side of the popularity stakes with her lukewarm review. "Freakier Friday" won over critic and fans alike with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 73% and a smashing 94% from audiences. The movie is bringing the bacon home at the box office too, raking in $12.7 million on Friday alone, with a projected weekend haul of a whopping $27 to $30 million!

The story is a clever continuation of the original, this time introducing a fresh generation-gap twist in the form of Anna's own daughter (Julia Butters) and her nearly-official stepdaughter (Sophia Hammons). In an attempt to blend their families, an incredibly messy four-way body swap occurs. It seems life has become even freakier for the Coleman women!

The star-studded ensemble includes Curtis, Lindsay Lohan, Julia Butters, and Sophia Hammons. They share screen time with Manny Jacinto, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. Nisha Ganatra helmed the movie using a script from the dynamic trio of Jordan Weiss, Elyse Hollander, and Mary Rodgers.

While Zacharek may not have been swept away, Variety's Owen Gleiberman had high praise. He applauded the sequel for nailing the “slapstick psychology” of the body-swapping genre with “stodgy aplomb.” Well, Jamie Lee Curtis, keep on doing your thing! It seems "Freakier Friday" is here to stay.
