Ho, Ho, Ho-llywood: Sony's Jingle-Jammed Schedule For 2027
- Oct 3, 2026
As the holiday season of 2027 edges closer, Sony puts its Santa hat on and becomes the gift that keeps on giving for movie enthusiasts! Two cinematic crackerjacks – "24 Jump Street" and the Ridley Scott-helmed “Treasure Island” remake starring the inimitable Hugh Jackman, – are all set to add a dash of dazzle to your festive flick fest.
“Treasure Island” promises a swashbuckling adventure and lands on big screens across the country from Nov. 11, 2027. But don't put away that popcorn tub yet! Ensuing the heated treasure hunt is the eagerly awaited comedy slugfest “24 Jump Street”, calling shots in theatres on Dec. 10, 2027.
Back in June, our crystal ball (and Variety) hinted at the return of Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube to the "Jump Street" universe. Brace yourselves as everyone's favorite high-school-undercover-cops-turned-college-students are gearing up for another joyride under the direction of Rodney Rothman ("Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse"). The comedic triad of Hill, Tatum, and Ice Cube adds to the production line-up alongside Neal H. Moritz, Reid Carolin, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller. And did we mention Meghan Malloy jumped in with Hill and Rothman to co-write the script? Oh, the Academy is going to have fun with this one!

Meanwhile, if you hear the sound of swords clashing (That's metaphorical. No swords. Promise.), it's because Ridley Scott and Hugh Jackman have joined forces to revive Robert Louis Stevenson’s timeless classic “Treasure Island”. Scott will be casting his directorial magic on a screenplay penned by Emmy-awardee Jack Thorne, who will also play the role of executive producer. Scott tags along- not as a pirate, but as a producer, partnering with Michael Pruss under his Scott Free banner.
Sony’s knack for surprises doesn’t stop there! Roshan Sethi’s heart-thumping thriller, "The Surgeon", stars Michelle Yeoh as a skillful doctor caught in a chilling predicament and launches on April 2, 2027. A coming-of-age comedy "Narcs" follows with an Aug. 20, 2027, debut. Details on "Narcs", featuring Mason Thames, are kept hush-hush for now.
Talk about munching on your suspense-popcorn! Sony decided to twirl its release calendar around with "Grandgear" landing early on Jan. 14, 2028 from its previous Feb. 18, 2028 date. "Helldivers", the cinematic adaptation of the beloved video game series, initially slated to hit screens on Nov. 10, 2027, now takes a long leap to June 9, 2028. On the mystery train or not, we're all aboard Sony's wild ride into 2027 (and beyond)!
