Countdown to "Avengers: Doomsday": Marvel's Biggest Preview in San Diego

Well, strap in, Marvel maniacs! Because San Diego Comic-Con just experienced a superhero tsunami! The main man at Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, gave the fans a gobsmacking surprise: exclusive footage of “Avengers: Doomsday,” only for the lucky ones crammed in the convention's gigantic Hall H.

The preview kicks off with our villainous protagonist, Victor Von Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) lounging on a throne, as Sue Storm (a.k.a. the Invisible Woman) portrayed by Vanessa Kirby, intertwines a tale of his personal decimation. “Victor was always the smartest guy in the room. He used to be different,” she says solemnly. The rest of the Fantastic Four, especially Reed Richards brought to life by Pedro Pascal, know Doom all too well, and their past with him is puzzling, to say the least. “Everything he loved was taken from him,” she adds.

The tease is laced with rapid shots featuring a star-studded cast-Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Panther (Letitia Wright), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Cyclops (James Marsden), and more. New York City is seen torn down to bits. Pascal's Reed Richards wonders aloud if Victor is the harbinger of this ruin.

Our ears catch Doom's steely voice stating, “All of you have lived stolen lives.” Thor goes at Doom, only to have his iconic hammer swatted aside. Doom then, with his magic, dismisses Thor and rises an army of Sentinel robots-the notorious androids from the “X-Men” movies.

True believers in the MCU will mark their calendars for Dec. 18 to watch “Avengers: Doomsday” in its full glory, an anticipated alliance between the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and more of Marvel's beloved characters.

The hype for “Doomsday” started ticking last December with Marvel releasing four titillating teaser trailers. These clips hinted at Chris Evans' return as Captain America, now a dad; Thor with his daughter Love; the Fantastic Four rendezvous with Black Panther and the Wakandans; and the Fox’s past X-Men team's official initiation in MCU.

Robert Downey Jr. spearheads the “Doomsday” cast as Doctor Doom, alongside “Avengers” stars like Evans, Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie and Simu Liu. The “Fantastic Four” and “Thunderbolts” teams, made up of Pascal, Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen and Lewis Pullman, are aligning with the original stars.

The “X-Men” cast from Fox is also stepping into MCU territory for “Doomsday.” The reprising stars include Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn and Channing Tatum. Check out the new poster for “Avengers: Doomsday” below.
