Hold onto your beanie hats, Eilish fanatics! Your favorite pop icon, Billie Eilish, is breaking new ground with her grand entry into Hollywood. Yes, you read that right! Eilish is all set to wear the actor's hat for Sarah Polley's upcoming rendition of Sylvia Plath’s masterpiece, “The Bell Jar.”

Sarah Polley is almost as much of a heavyweight in this project, with her Oscar-winning touch. The Academy Award-winning director is weaving the screenplay to her vision and will take the directorial reins on her first movie since her Oscar success for best adapted screenplay in “Women Talking” back in 2023. Remember, Eilish isn't a new face in the world of Oscars - our pop star has already pocketed a couple of those shiny gold statuettes for her original songs in “Barbie” and “No Time to Die,” – both co-written with her super talented brother, Finneas.

As many Eilish fans would know, “The Bell Jar” has long topped her list of favorite reads. This literary classic by American novelist Sylvia Plath stands as her only published novel, capturing a young woman’s struggle with mental illness in a society lacing her expectations with gender biases back in the 1950s. This semi-autobiographical tale saw the light of day under a pseudonym in 1963, just before Plath took her own life.

A little birdie (OK, it's Variety) told us that Eilish has been linked with Polley's “The Bell Jar” project for some time now. Focus Features is the lucky platform that will host this highly anticipated project. Producer Joy Gorman Wettels (“Little House on the Prairie,” “13 Reasons Why”), Plan B Entertainment and Studiocanal are joining forces in creating this cinematic magic. It was actually Gorman Wettels who first got the ball rolling through her company, Joy Coalition. She brought together Eilish and Polley and partnered with Plan B and StudioCanal before getting Focus onboard.

Although this is Eilish's first major movie gig, let's not forget her jaw-dropping performance in the Prime Video series “Swarm,” co-created by the creative minds of Donald Glover and Janine Nabers, which earned her the People’s Choice Award for best TV performance of the year and an Independent Spirit Award nomination. Plus, the green-haired Grammy magnet is further broadening her creative horizons by co-directing the upcoming concert tour documentary “Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour” with “Avatar” and “Titanic” director James Cameron.

Representatives from every corner are equally excited. Eilish's team at WME, Sandbox Entertainment, and High Rise PR, and Polley's reps at WME, GGA, and Circle Management and Gorman Wettels' attorney Nina Shaw at the esteemed Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein Lezcano Bobb & Dang, are all ready to leap into this promising venture. Word of this project was first shared with the world by Deadline and the Insneider.
