Oh, how time flies in Gotham city! It's been 20 years since the groundbreaking film "Batman Begins" graced our cinema screens. Recently, David S. Goyer, the brain behind the Batman trilogy, made some revelations during a nostalgic rendezvous on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast.

Bruce Wayne stole the limelight for the first hour of the movie, much to Warner Bros.’ chagrin. Goyer, however, had no regrets about his narrative gamble to delay the Bat's on-screen appearance. “They were not thrilled about it, but hey, no offense to the previous Bruce Wayne portrayers," he casually remarked. "We all love the costumed hero, but why rush it?”

Goyer and Christopher Nolan had a grand plan. They wanted to introduce a Bruce Wayne so compelling that even the audience would forget about his masked alter-ego, at least for a while. This led to the riveting escape from the temple sequence, all devoid of any bat-like personas, that had us all gripping our seats.

Goyer, being the savvy scriptwriter he is, tackled studio worries over Batman’s delayed entrance by putting together a riveting presentation. Did you know, several superhero movie characters including Richard Donner’s "Superman" took just about as long to don their uniforms? Now that’s something to ponder!

Goyer's superhero saga did not end after waving goodbye to the bat symbol against the gothic towers of Gotham city. He joined forces with Zack Snyder for "Man of Steel," based on a story he and Nolan brainstormed. This sparked off Snyder’s own DC Universe, culminating in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

But when he pondered a collaboration with Ben Affleck’s Batman, Goyer recalls Nolan’s advice: “Stick to what you started, mate. Let’s not complicate things.” Nonetheless, Goyer’s superhero adventures didn't stop at Gotham, and they might not be over just yet.

Perhaps Blade will be his calling once again? For those in the loop, Goyer penned all three Wesley Snipes’ Blade flicks and donned the director's hat for 2004's "Blade: Trinity." He admits being eager to grab the quill for MCU's impending Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali. “Why the delay? I'm a massive Marvel fan myself, scratching my head over here!" he exclaimed.

Now, aren't we all? For more of Goyer’s insights and witty one-liners, tune into his full interview on "Happy Sad Confused". It's a must for all Bat fans, or just anyone who enjoys a good walk down Hollywood memory lane!
