Alexander the Great, meet E. Jean Carroll, a dynamic advice columnist and no-holds-barred journalist set to receive her own moment of spotlight glory. But wait, let's sprinkle a little extra stardust. Abramorama, the Oscar-worthy theatrical maestro, has just snapped up the U.S. rights to her biographical documentary, "Ask E. Jean."

E. Jean's tale first graced the silver screen at the 2025 Telluride Film Festival. Despite initial hesitations from cautious distributors wary of ruffling Trump administration feathers, the film is scheduled to dazzle audiences at the IFC Center in New York come May 22, and in the city of angels-Los Angeles-on May 29. Plus, it promises a roll-out to other U.S. cities. And, folks for those who can't wait, IFC grants wishes with a special preview on May 21.

Now, who managed to capture the essence of this beautiful belle of journalism? Ivy Meeropol, the talented filmmaker behind "After the Bite" and "Heir to An Execution", along with Laura Bickford and Annabelle Dunne, served as the formidable trifecta behind the production.

Karol Martesko-Fenster, CEO and President of Abramorama, waxed eloquent about the film. "E. Jean Carroll is a tapestry of color in the sometimes-monochrome world of American journalism," he gushed. "Ivy Meeropol has crafted a fearless, humorous and altogether unforgettable magnification of E. Jean’s life. We're thrilled to present this bold tale to our audiences."

Light-footed around boundaries, Carroll made her mark as the first woman editor at Esquire, Playboy, and Outside. Yet, her claim to notoriety was accusing Trump of sexually assaulting her in the mid-'90s, leading to two lawsuits against the former president and a whopping $88.3 million in damages.

Working with Carroll was an "absolute inspiration”, according to Meeropol. The director confessed she was more than thrilled because Abramorama "shared the conviction that E. Jean’s larger-than-life character should play on big screens countrywide.”

Titled after Carroll's esteemed Elle advice column, "Ask E. Jean" has been a festival darling. Appearing at more than a dozen global film festivals, it scooped up the audience award for Best Documentary at the Sun Valley Film Festival and triumphed with the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, among several other nods. Now, it looks set to charm the rest of us in commercial theaters across the nation.
