Are your youngsters ready for a whimsical plunge into the world of serialized fantasies, but oh-so-not-ready yet for a Harry Potter marathon or a Narnia expedition? Well, Apple TV+ has come to the rescue! “The Sisters Grimm,” based on the much-loved books by Michael Buckley, promises a magical blast targeted at your young ones, and it totally nails it with a sprinkle of fairy magic. However, it also offers food for thought on the modern challenges faced by family animations.

The saga ushers in on the note of adventure, tradition, and-most importantly-orphans (Because c'mon, what's a children's fantasy without a touch of the destitute, right?). So our adventurous journey starts with 11-year-old brooding Sabrina (Ariel Winter) and her innocent 7-year-old sister Daphne (Leah Newman), who, due to an unfortunate turn of events, are relocated to Ferryport Landing from NYC to live with quirky Grandma Relda (Laraine Newman). These girls have been whizzed through six foster homes-one of which was generous enough to offer cat food for snacks!

As they settle into their new home, they find it is magically populated by fairytale characters, the so-called “Everafters.” And before they can even catch a breath in their fairyland, drastic events unfold. Grandma Relda gets kidnapped by a giant and it's upon the Grimm sisters to save the day, unravel the mysteries cloaking their lineage, and navigate through this town brimming with Everafters.

Armed with courage and wit, they find allies in Jack the Giant Slayer (Dylan Llewellyn), a magic mirror (Harry Trevaldwyn) they stumble upon, and Puck (Billy Harris), a rowdy fairy lad from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" who seems quite smitten by Sabrina.

This captivating series might appear more laid-back and a relief from the hyperactive children's programs popular these days, but its charisma stems from the sublime fantastical tone weaved in by the showrunner Amy Higgins and her exemplary team. They manage to concoct a mysterious aura and character progression that never feel preachy.

Steering off the path of being an educational program, "Sisters Grimm" is an engaging concoction of essential interpersonal themes and well-crafted adventures that implore socially relevant dialogues.

Apart from the narrative, the series impresses with its autumn-themed visuals and muted background colors. These make up for the average animation quality reminiscent of other Apple TV+ productions.

One sour apple in the barrel is the foreseen flaw of streaming-the story feels a bit rushed due to the shorter episode format. It's exasperating to watch the story's potential being clipped by the 'rushing Stereotype' of streaming. However, fans may cross fingers for an in-depth exploration in possible future seasons.

Nevertheless, with a tinge of magic and the bond of sisterhood, "The Sisters Grimm" lands as the new fall delight for families.

So folks, mark your calendars! The adventure begins from October 3rd on Apple TV+.
