"The Salt Path" Set to Take the U.S. by Storm
- Apr 2, 2026
The star-studded drama "The Salt Path" has been creating quite the buzz Down Under and across the pond. Now, it's setting its sight on conquering the silver screens in the U.S. and Canada. Courtesy of Rialto Distribution International, audiences across North America are soon going to get a taste of this acclaimed cinematic masterpiece.
Fresh off the heels of a prosperous box office stint in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom where it raked in an impressive $15 million, "The Salt Path" features Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs in gut-wrenching performances of a couple in the eye of a life-storm, having lost their home and battling a grim diagnosis. As a last-ditch attempt to turn their fortunes around, they set out on an inspirational 1,000-kilometre foot-trip down England’s rugged Southwest Coast Path. What follows is an intensely emotional journey of rediscovery, love, resilience, and above all, the never-dying tenacity of human connections.
Rialto has pencilled May 22 as the day "The Salt Path" will be unleashed to North American screens. The film marks a landmark moment for seasoned theater director Marianne Elliot who makes her debut in the world of feature films with this. After the triumphant release of "Tinā", one of the most successful New Zealand-made films in the U.S., the folks at Rialto are looking forward to replicating the same success with "The Salt Path".

Elizabeth Karlsen and Stephen Woolley, the producers of the film, expressed their thoughts on the partnership. “Working with Marianne on her first feature was a rare opportunity to translate an intimate, deeply felt story to the big screen," they shared. "The eloquence and depth of this film set it apart in today's cinema, and we're beyond excited that Rialto will be ushering it to U.S. and Canadian audiences.”
Concurring on the enchanting nature of the film, Kelly Rogers, CEO of Rialto, further added, “This is a film of quiet strength. It resounds deeply with love, endurance and the idea that it's never too late to start anew. We're absolutely thrilled to share this extraordinary work of art with audiences in the United States and Canada, convinced it will make a lasting impression.”
